High Weald Academy has been developing a new local partnership arrangement with Plumpton College, a largely agricultural college based in East Sussex.

From this September, High Weald have a small number of Sixth Form students who are following a blended learning programme of Forestry or Animal Care, alongside more academic A levels and BTEC courses. A member of staff from Plumpton spends one day a week at High Weald, supporting these students as well as working with others.

Members of High Weald’s English and Maths teams are also going to Plumpton to support some of the post-16 English and Maths provision that is now a requirement for FE Colleges.

The Brook Learning Trust continually strives to strengthen links with community, businesses and other education establishments to create the best opportunities for students and staff, as well as to those we can offer our support to in return. The new partnership with Plumpton College is a really positive development for High Weald Academy.

Along with increased numbers coming into the Sixth Form and our much-improved results, it’s been a great way to start the new academic year.
