Our Story so Far
We began with an ambition to provide high quality, dynamic education building on our foundations in the effective and outward looking Hayesbrook school with its history of high impact outreach work.
In 2010 the Brook Learning Trust (BLT) was formed, an organisation built upon moral purpose. BLT was swiftly invited by the Department for Education to become an academy sponsor. The High Weald Academy opened under BLT sponsorship in 2012 and The Ebbsfleet Academy followed in 2013. Results in both sponsored academies, whose predecessor schools were deemed to be some of the most challenging in the region, demonstrate our commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
Across Brook Learning Trust there has been a three-year trend of rapid, sustained improvement in overall progress and attainment across the first three years of our sponsored academies. In the first three years of opening GCSE results at The High Weald Academy went from 34% to 66% and in The Ebbsfleet Academy’s first three years from 38% to 60%. The Hayesbrook School achieved its best ever set of KS4 results in 2016, with 64% of the boys gaining a good pass in both English and mathematics compared with a national average of 58%.
Brook Learning Trust maintains strong links with other schools and continues to offer bespoke and impactful outreach work across the south east. We are always open to opportunities for collaboration, or for others to join our family, where our vision and values are aligned and where mutual benefits can be achieved. For our Trust, the academies programme is not an end in itself, rather it is an opportunity to work in partnership and to empower us all.
