The High Weald Academy

The High Weald Academy is a rural school located in an idyllic setting with its own farm.  The vision for the school to become the school of choice in the local area, delivering high quality learning and teaching leading to high achievement for every student. We are very much a school in the community and of the community and contribute to a range of local initiatives from Cranbrook in Bloom to local planning.

Last year saw the academy achieving its best ever set of results with 55% of students achieving the benchmark of 5 A*-C including English and Maths and our vocational results at post 16 being in the top 25% nationally.  We work collaboratively with local schools and colleges and have a wide range of enrichment activities designed to extend the horizons and experiences of our students.  Our PRIDE values form the foundations for how we live and work together as a community. Our close knit team of highly committed professionals ensures the academic and pastoral well-being of our students and every individual is valued for the contribution they make to the life of the academy within and beyond the classroom. Lead Practitioner of Science

The High Weald Academy are looking for a Lead Practitioner of Science for September 2017. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic planning and development of the quality of teaching and learning within the department, and the day to day management of Science. .  Reporting to the SLT Line Manager, they will work towards developing systems to improve the outcomes for students in Science.

This is a key post and will need a team player with vision, high expectations, flair, drive, determination, energy and a strong commitment to raising standards. A dedicated teacher is required, who will be committed to the high quality of teaching and learning in this school, which is a hallmark of its success. All teachers appointed to the school are allocated a tutor group and a candidate who can demonstrate experience and a willingness to undertake wider responsibilities will be welcomed.

Visits to the academy are highly recommended, and the leadership team would be happy to discuss the vision for the academy with candidates either during a visit, or during a telephone conversation.
