The Ebbsfleet Academy

Vision: To be an outstanding community academy, whose focus is on learning, as well as on personal and social development, and to be ambitious for all regardless of circumstance.

Do you want to transform lives? Are you ready for a challenge? Do you want to work in an academy that is fast becoming the number one school of choice in the local community and has improved results by over 30% in three years, with a 5A*- C figure last summer of 56%, and a good rating by OFSTED in all categories in its first inspection?  Do you want to join a school which thinks marking is futile (but that high quality feedback to pupils is imperative)? Do you want to work in a culture that judges people on their results and their contribution, never their hours in the building or whose car is the last to leave the car park? Do you want to join a staff team where everyone’s contribution is valued and staff at all levels are involved in decision making and policy change? Do you believe the devil is in the detail and that a no excuses culture transforms lives? Do you want to join a hardworking and passionate team of staff in an academy characterised by high aspirations, academic excellence and exemplary behaviour? Do you want to work in a school that has firm discipline and crystal clear rules (that are enforced) alongside a strong current of care, encouragement and reward? Do you want to be a part of a growing trust, the Brook Learning Trust, led by an inspiring CEO, a trust with a clear moral purpose and vision, and one which has at its heart our values of integrity, respect, courage, optimism, excellence, accountability?

The Ebbsfleet Academy opened in September 2013; we are on a journey to become an over-subscribed school that children walk to, with their friends, where they enjoy coming and a school of which they feel proud. We are building an ethos that creates a belief that we can all achieve our goals and better our futures. We are developing independent, resilient and respectful individuals, who are ready to learn for themselves. We want all our students to achieve the highest qualifications they can, but also to fulfil all their potential, academic and personal, sporting, creative and artistic. We want our pupils to leave school as well-rounded, confident young people, with an awareness of the wider world, and a desire and ambition to play an active part in it, all of which is encapsulated in The Ebbsfleet Academy’s motto - Aspire and Excel

Teacher of English

We are looking for an outstanding teacher to join our English department from September 2017.  You will have a proven track record across Key Stages 3 & 4, the ability to motivate and inspire staff and students alike, and an unwavering commitment to improving achievement for all.

Since the academy opened, English results have improved year on year; last summer 67% of students left the academy with at least a C grade in English and this improvement is set to continue with an increasingly able profile of student lower down the school. With this in mind, the English team acknowledge that now is the time to invest heavily in the development of an exciting and challenging KS3 curriculum. This young and dynamic team, utterly invested in the belief that learning changes lives, is determined to see all of our Year 7  students leave us in 4 years’ time with top grades, and as great orators, captive writers and interested readers. By joining the English team at Ebbsfleet, you will be joining us on our journey to excellence. The intervention work is done; now it's time to make academics of our students.

For colleagues with a desire for additional responsibility, the role of Head of House may be available in conjunction with this role, subject to demonstrating the relevant experience and skills.
